"M-Audio has a a variety of decent devices"
A lot of us jumped on m-audio when the microtrack came out, and ended up
disappointed over quality issues (i.e. battery life horrendous, included
mics not sufficient for music, etc). they have a microtrack II out now
but I personally wouldn't trust them again. i'd get a zoom, folks seem
to be happy with those. these are very small, high fidelity (cd quality
anyway), plug into the computer with usb to download the files and edit
with audacity or something else, etc. i really think that's your best
solution, something along those lines.
